The Pilates institute of Queensland is a Sports Physiotherapy based Institute that has been
teaching Physiotherapists and Allied health practitioners Pilates equipment and Matwork
for over 25 years.
We have also been a provider of Matwork courses for Fitness Instructors through Fitness
Australian, and now Ausactive for over 25 years.

We are pleased to announce that we are in the final stages of becoming a registered
provider of Pilates Courses for registered Fitness professionals with Aus active for Personal
trainers and Certificate 3 and 4 Fitness professionals

We will be running 2 streams of courses:-

  • Group Reformer
  • Matwork

Group Reformer for Exercise Professionals
Do you want to deliver a scientifically designed exercise workout created by yourself, an
exercise professional to strengthen and balance your client’s bodies, improve their posture,
enhance their core strength and improve their sporting pursuits by targeted integrated
exercise – all on a Reformer.
In our course we will be teaching you Pilates Reformer exercises that merge the art of
movement with the science of movement. This course is designed by an experienced Sports
and Exercise physiotherapist. We teach you to use and include an exercise with a goal and
purpose.


To safely design :-

  • Exercises for beginners
  • Intermediate and advanced clients
  • For seniors
  • For pregnancy and post-natal clients
  • For sporting groups – general and specific
  • For clients with minor injuries that require a few minor modifications
  • To merge the art and flow of Pilates with purpose and exercise science.

How do I become that Pilates exercise professional

You need to commit to a 100 hour course.

This will include :-

  • Pre reading with an assessment
  • 3 weekends of face to face learning
  • Post course written assessment
  • Post course logged hours of practice
  • Practical exam

 

This course is for qualified

  • Personal trainers
  • Cert 3 and 4 Fitness professionals

You will require a strong background in Applied anatomy

  • Training principles
  • Fundamentals of exercise physiology
  • Experience in the profession
  • 25 hours plus of Pilates class attendance, and /or practice.

Our Group Reformer for Exercise Professionals course is a comprehensive course covering
suitable exercises for beginners and deconditioned clientele, through to high level athletes
and seasoned Pilates devotees.

This course is for any exercise professional taking a job in a Group Reformer studio through
to a health professional wanting to establish their own studio and to deliver programs that
are well founded and involve some “clinical reasoning” We deliver a course that will give
you a deeper understanding of exercise delivery, planning and specificity and the confidence
and understand of the dynamics of what you are delivering.

Our point of difference is this course is designed by a Sports physiotherapist who comes
from a space where the inclusion of an exercise and at what level it is given is validated by
sports science and anatomy knowledge. We train you to understand the movement and the
science and to assess your client.

The course requirements by Ausactive

 Pre-requisite: Personal experience Minimum of 25 hours
(recommended) 
 Foundational theory  Minimum of 30 hours
 Observation  Minimum of 10 hours
 Instructing/practice teaching in a Reformer Pilates setting  Minimum of 30 hours
 Self-Mastery of repertoire (participation in classes,
learning by self) in a Reformer Pilates setting
 Minimum of 30 hours
 TOTAL  100 hours

 

Our course will have some prereading content

Practical learning
Our course will be run as face to face practical sessions over 6 days (usually 3 weekends) as
well as learning over 150 exercises and ways to enhance these, our course will include 14
hours of instructing and practice teaching to enhance your exercise prescription and
teaching skill. This will also reduce the load post face to face course to complete the course
requirements. The 6 days will account for 30 hours of Foundation theory , 14 hours
instructing, practice teaching)

  • Post course – 16 hours of practice teaching
  • 10 hours observation
  • 30 hours of self mastery and practice

Entry Requirements
You are registered as a Personal Trainer and/or Group Exercise Instructor
You have a Nationally Accredited and current CPR and First Aid certificate
CPR (HLTAID009) completed in past 12 months
First Aid (HLTAID011) completed in past 3 years.

If your qualification was completed more than 2 years ago, evidence of 20 CECs completed
within the last 2 years is required.
